This started with us talking about Goofy having a wife that died
It quickly turned into Disney not having moms in most of the movies and if you think about it most of their movies moms and or dads are missing.
The one theory is that Walt Disney eliminated mother roles in his movies because he felt responsible for his own mothers death because he bought the house that his mother ended up dying from carbon monoxide poisoning shortly after moving in.
The other theory is that many of the movies were based on early fairy tales written pre-1920s and when they were written it wasn't that far fetched to have a sick mother that passed away because most diseases weren't understood or treated properly.
You can believe either one. But here is an insane breakdown of movies
