Thought this was fake when we first listened to it for the first time...But it is not
Father Tom Donovan from St. Aloysius church in Springfield Illinois has taken a leave of absence after he called 911 from the rectory in handcuffs with some type of gag in his mouth.
Father Donovan told the 911 dispatcher that he was alone in the rectory. According to the police report it is not clear exactly how he ended up in handcuffs and gagged or why he feared a medical emergency.
The diocese has not made a statement about the incident saying only that Bishop Thomas Paprocki granted Donovan’s request for a leave of absence.
