Jimmy Fallon is the Heir Apparent to the late night throne of Jay Leno, and NBC execs are ready for the change to happen. But Jay Leno isn't. Here's a snippet of his monlogue from last night...

It's obvious NBC wants Jay gone, and maybe it IS time. I don't find Jay Leno funny at all. His jokes are safe, simple, and not what everyone is talking about around the water cooler the next day at work. But he IS effective as a late night host. He's a likeable guy. Which is why he's held the position for so long.

Whatever happens with Jay Leno and NBC needs to happen fast. Jimmy Kimmel has quickly become a force to be reckonned with in the late night game. Although Leno still wins at night, Kimmel is very close to overtaking the Tonight Show's coveted 18-34 demographic. It's only a matter of time.
